BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL

25th FEBRUARY 2010

1. Dropped kerb on Shutewater Hill - the order for the work had been placed but no date has yet been supplied.

2. The new bench to go near the bottom of Bishop's Hull Hill has also been ordered and will be installed very soon.

3. Action has been taken regarding the dangerous parking on the corner near the village shop and Post Office. Various road markings will be put down to discourage parking on that corner.

4. The Chairman said that he had held a meeting with interested local bodies about how the S106 money arising from the Persimmon Homes development might be spent. A new village hall was being considered, but also making better use of existing facilities such as the cricket pavilion and the Frank Bond Centre.

5. Core Strategy - the Chairman encouraged members to respond individually to this as it was not going to be possible to compile a Parish Council response in the time available.

6. Grit boxes would cost £85 each and could be located at strategic points around the village. Salt/grit would be supplied by the County Council once the boxes were in place. This matter will be put on the next agenda for fuller discussion.

7. Speed limit at bottom of Shutewater Hill - the Clerk had ascertained that there was no 30 mph speed limit on the Upcott Road - the national speed limit applied - and it was acknowledged by SCC that the signage was wrong and would be removed in the new financial year. Members still want the 30 mph limit to be extended to the Fideoak sub-station, and the Clerk was instructed to pursue this with SCC.

8. Footpaths - Mr Burgess said that the Footpaths Group was to meet on 17th March. T3/6 - the badly eroded footpath by the river - it was hoped that an alternative route further north would soon be available.

9. Cllr Alan Paul (SCC) reported that swingeing cuts were expected in all SCC budgets next year. He was not expecting his community budget to be renewed, and no progress would be made on some outstanding schemes such as extending the Park and Ride at Silk Mills. There would be a small grant available for youth work, but he anticipated that there would be a lot of competition for it.

10. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website www.Bishopshull.org.uk

10. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request from the Clerk.

11. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday 8th April 2010 at the Frank Bond Centre, starting at 7.30 p.m.
