BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL

22nd JANUARY 2009

1. Two Police Officers attended and reported on the level of criminal activity in the village, which they were pleased to report was low at the moment. The non-emergency contact number for the Police was discussed: members were concerned that the 0845 number was not satisfactory, and the local PCSO had not answered her phone when called. They asked for some kind of call-forward to be investigated. The Police said they were aware of the delay in answering non-urgent calls and it was being looked into.

2. No more had been heard from SCC regarding parking in Heron Drive and surrounding roads, and the Clerk was asked to chase them up again.

3. The recent increase in the Frank Bond Centre hire charges was discussed. Meetings may have to be moved to another venue and the Clerk was asked to make enquiries.

4. Persimmon Homes application - this has been quiet for some time, but the Council has been told by Taunton Deane that the application is still under consideration/negotiation.

5. Freedom of Information Act - the Council is currently preparing a new scheme under this Act, to make sure that all relevant information is easily available to parishioners.

6. The Local Action Team, the Village Events Group, the Youth Group and the Frank Bond Centre all reported on their various activities. The new VEG Group is being very well supported now and the big summer event this year will be on 11th July. Make a note in your diaries!

7. Footpaths - there was concern about the collapsing path T3/6 which runs from Roughmoor into the town centre. The dangerous section of the path is currently closed and negotiations are under way with SCC and the landowner with regard to diverting the path further away from the river.

8. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website - www.bishopshull.org.uk

9. The next Parish Council meeting is on Thursday 5th March, 2009, at the Frank Bond Centre, starting at 7.30 p.m.
