SUMMARYOF MEETING: 14th JANUARY 2010
1. Unpleasant smells around Frethey House were mentioned yet again. The Clerk had been unable to get in direct contact with the Environment Agency but was still pursuing this line of enquiry. Mrs Beaumont had some useful numbers which she said she would pass on to the Clerk.
2. Dropped kerb on Shutewater Hill - this is progressing, but Atkins have been extremely busy coping with the snow, so it was hoped that an order might be placed by SCC before the end of the month.
3. It was agreed to purchase and install a new bench to go near the bottom of Bishop's Hull Hill, so that people waiting for the bus can have somewhere to sit.
4. The Council is still trying to get the footbridge over the River Tone listed so that when it is repaired this can be done sympathetically. Listing is a long and ongoing process, however, requiring the co-operation of Taunton Deane BC. The old School in Gypsy Lane is not considered by TDBC to be suitable for listing.
5. PACT - the Council welcomed PCSO Simon Parry to the meeting to talk about ongoing issues. He said there had been no reported incidents of vandalism or anti-social behaviour, but these would continue to be his prime targets, along with dog fouling in the playing field, fly tipping, and dangerous parking on the corner near the village shop and Post Office.
6. Members considered a request for financial support from the Frank Bond Centre trustees who are about to undertake some quite extensive work on their boundary wall and fence. The pavement by the bus stop could be widened to allow people to pass more easily, and the Council agreed to grant £1000 for this work.
7. Since the granting of outline planning permission for Persimmon Homes, the Chairman said he intends to consult with local bodies about how the S106 money which will come to the parish might be spent. A village hall is one matter to be considered.
8. It was noted that the Core Strategy was out for consultation and that there would be an exhibition in the Frank Bond Centre on 26th January.
9. Due to the recent heavy snow, gritting in the parish was discussed and the Clerk was asked to find out about the cost of installing grit boxes at key points.
10. Car parking - Cllr Alan Paul said that no progress on residents' parking could now be made until the second Park and Ride had been reviewed.
11. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website www.Bishopshull.org.uk
10. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request from the Clerk.
11. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday 25th February 2010 at the Frank Bond Centre, starting at 7.30 p.m.
