BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL
JANUARY 2011
1. Members of the public present expressed concerns about a planning proposal for a house in Mountway Close (Milanwil) which was to be demolished and replaced with four houses. They asked what the Parish Council’s position was on this application, but the Planning Panel had not yet visited.
2. Grit boxes – the Clerk reported that these were on order from the DLO but there had been a run on them during the cold weather. They must be sited on the highway and be visible, as the grit is intended for use ONLY on the public highway, and the rules are very strict about this.
3. The Council has been actively engaged at several meetings with Taunton Deane, SCC and Persimmon about the new development on Bishop’s Hull Road, and in particular the provision of safe passage for pedestrians past the site. There were concerns re safety.
4. Dog bins – the new dog bin for Frethey Lane is on order. The transfer of the dog bin to the rear of the Frank Bond Centre to Heron Drive will take place shortly.
5. Footbridge over the River Tone – the Council has offered to contribute to the repairs, which are estimated at between £15 - £20,000. The Clerk was asked to contact English Heritage again to see what protection was provided by it being in a Conservation Area and of historical interest.
6. Old bench at Haydon Close – Mr Roper was thanked for moving the bench to the Frank Bond Centre, but there were still concerns about how it would be renovated. A photograph will be put on the parish website to see if anyone wants to volunteer to help restore it.
7. Revised Standing Orders were adopted and these can now be viewed on the Parish Website (www.bishopshull.org.uk).
8. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website.
9. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request from the Clerk.
10. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday 24th February 2011 at the Frank Bond Centre, starting at 7.30 p.m.
