BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL

JULY & AUGUST 2010

1. The issues surrounding parking in 'Birdland' are still current. Plans are being drawn up for a residents' parking scheme and changing the restrictions. Cllr Ian Morrell is going to organise a public meeting (probably in the Robin Close meeting room) in September.

2. The Council has been trying to get repairs to the bus gate speeded up - this was eventually done but it has broken down again since and had to be repaired again.

3. The Council has installed a new bench on Bishop's Hull Hill for use by people waiting for the bus, but are still wondering what to do about the old bench by the flats in Haydon Close. They are going to remove and renovate it, then either donate it to a local group or install it on another site.

4. The Police attended the July meeting for the PACT item. They are continuing to focus their attention on anti-social behaviour, which includes camping and damage to trees in the woodland area, youths congregating in Frethey Lane, and dog fouling on the playing fields. The Police provided contact numbers and asked that these be put on the notice boards which they have been.

5. Despite objections being put forward by the Council, works have started on the junction of Bishop's Hull Road with Wellington Road. This is in connection with the proposed housing development by Persimmon Homes. There is also a proposal to completely remove the hedge which runs alongside Bishop's Hull Road but this is actively being disputed.

6. Longrun Meadows - there were concerns about the size of the proposed family fun event and possible issues with parking. The Council will be watching out for any future events after monitoring the effects on the village of this one.

7. The LAT continues its Speedwatch work in the village, although the gun requires recalibration, and is also working hard with projects for village youth.

8. The Village Events Group was pleased with the Party in the Park, which was well attended and the weather was kind.

9. The Frank Bond Centre has been busy, this time doing boundary works and (with Parish Council support) widening the pavement by the bus stop which makes life easier for both pedestrians and people waiting for the bus.

10. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website www.Bishopshull.org.uk

10. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request from the Clerk.

11. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday 23rd September 2010 at the Frank Bond Centre, starting at 7.30 p.m.
