BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL
www.bishopshull.org.uk
5th MARCH 2009
1. There was a full and useful discussion on policing in the village. Wpc Claire
Griffiths confirmed that she will remain our dedicated Beat Officer and will
be supported by two PCSOs - Debbie Perry and Simon Parry. Priority issues for
the police will be reducing the incidence of (i) vandalism and anti-social behaviour
at the children's play park and (ii) fly tipping and increased littering in
the parish.
The important message is that all problems should be reported to the police
as they occur either by phone to 0845-456700 or by using the message facility
on www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/
2. The 30 mph restriction on Silk Mills Road was another subject for discussion
and various views were put forward. With speed limits on Taunton's roads due
for review in the next twelve months, this is an opportune time to start gathering
relevant information re Silk Mills. Help with this will come from the police
and also from the Local Action Team's Speedwatch volunteers whose efforts are
much appreciated.
3. Councillors welcomed David Jorgensen to the meeting for an update on the
village website (www.bishopshull.org.uk). He reported that the current task
is to re-energise the site and ensure that information held is not out of date.
Efforts are being made to get confirmation of contact details for local organisations
but unfortunately responses can be slow or not forthcoming at all.
4. Councillors agreed that the Clerk should rejoin the Society of Local Council
Clerks (SLCC) with the Parish Council paying the annual subscription of £105
and a one-off joining fee of £10. The Clerk's role is one of increasing
complexity and change and membership of the SLCC will provide valuable technical
assistance.
5. Other decisions reached included (i) continued use of the Frank Bond Centre
as the venue for Parish Council meetings and (ii) the adoption of a Freedom
of Information publication scheme detailing the sources of information to which
the public has a general right of access.
6. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village
noticeboards and the Website - www.bishopshull.org.uk
7. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request
from the Clerk. There may be a small charge for printing costs.
8. Annual Parish Meeting: This will be on Thursday 23rd April at the Frank
Bond Centre, 7p.m. start, and is open to everyone on the electoral roll. It
is an opportunity for you to have your say on local issues and what you feel
the parish council should be doing. Do please come along. The Parish Council
meeting will immediately follow the Annual Parish Meeting.
