BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL28th MAY 20091. The Council elected Ken Burgess as Chairman for the coming year. Rod Porter was elected Vice Chairman. Malcolm Summers was thanked for his service as Chairman for the past 4 years. 2. The Council then received a talk by Bob Symons from Taunton Deane BC on the work of the Standards Committee which deals with the enforcement of the Code of Conduct for members. This stringent Code governs such things as declarations of interest, and when members should withdraw from discussions, along with proper conduct in terms of diversity, racial awareness etc. 3. It was agreed to get the new dropped kerb on Shutewater Hill done without further delay and to fund it ourselves as the cost is low. 4. The Council was informed that the Persimmon Homes application was due to go to Planning Committee in July. It was agreed to make further enquiries about the S106 proposals and to press for urgent resolution of this matter which has been going on far too long. 5. The coping stones on Tytherleigh bridge have still not been repaired but the work on the list of SCC bridge repairs to be done. It is apparently not regarded as urgent according to their criteria. 6. The cobbled path at Netherclay will be refurbished in the autumn. The Parish Council are making a financial contribution to this long overdue work. 7. The Council finalised the accounts for the last financial year, and spent some time going over the forms and procedures for the external audit which will be carried out in July. They will be reviewing financial procedures at the next meeting. 8. Reports from other local groups included the ongoing work of the Local Action Team, the Youth Group, the VEG event ('Summer Sizzler') in the playing field on 11th July, and a guided walk around the community woodland to be held on 8th July. 9. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request from the Clerk. There may be a small charge for printing costs. 11.
