BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL

www.bishopshull.org.uk

20th MAY 2010

1. The meeting was preceded by the Annual Parish Meeting. Those present received reports from the Clerk on financial matters, Mrs Mapletoft on the closing down of the Bishop's Hull Charity, Rose Humphreys (Tree Warden) (in absentia), Nick Mott (Chairman of the Local Action Team), and Cllr Ian Morrell on various local issues, including the proposed housing by the Bishop's Hull Road and parking problems at Heron Drive and other areas. The Chairman of the Parish Council also gave his annual report on the Council's activities during the past year.

2. Elections - following the annual parish meeting, the Council elected Ken Burgess as Chairman for the coming year. Rod Porter was elected Vice Chairman.

3. Dropped kerb on Shutewater Hill - this work has been done, but there are now concerns about the safety of the angle for wheelchairs. The Council are making enquiries about this.

4. The meeting received an update from Cllr Ian Morrell (Taunton Deane) about the Persimmon Homes development. While he was still actively opposing the granting of the planning certificate, he thought it might be done next week.

5. Core Strategy - contains proposals for more homes to be built on small areas of land around the district. Cllr Morrell said he was galvanising Taunton-wide opposition to this future development starting with a meeting at Blackbrook Pavilion next week.

6. Accounts and Audit - the accounts had been internally audited and were adopted. The papers for the external audit were duly signed off.

7. Parking in Heron Drive and associated areas, including Richmond Park - this was still causing problems, and it was hoped that some kind of permit system might be introduced for residents. There was no news yet, however.

8. Members noted with concern the recent break in and assault at the Old Inn and agreed to send a letter of sympathy to the landlord.

9. Repairs to the coping stones on Tytherleigh Bridge have still not been done after over a year. The Council are now chasing this up as a matter of urgency.

10. It was noted that the bus gate in Mountway Road has been out of order for several weeks and that drivers were now using it as an unofficial short cut again. The Clerk was asked to make enquiries.

11. The VEG Group reported that the next big village event will be the FAMILY FUN DAY to be held in the field on Saturday 12th June. All are welcome and helpers are still needed!

12. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website www.Bishopshull.org.uk

10. Full copies of the minutes of Parish Council meetings are available on request from the Clerk.

11. The next Parish Council meeting will be on Thursday 1st July 2010 at the Frank Bond Centre, starting at 7.30 p.m.
