BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL

25TH OCTOBER 2007
1. Another vacancy has arisen on the Council due to the resignation of
Mr Martin Peters. This is being advertised in the normal way.
2. Development on the fields to the west of Bishop's Hull Road - the
main part of this very long meeting was devoted to a presentation by Ralph
Willoughby Foster, the Planning Officer from Taunton Deane, who attended
to update councillors on a possible planning application to build houses
on the fields to the west of Bishop's Hull Road. The application has not
been submitted yet, and it is not known whether it will have strong grounds
for being granted (due to the current shortage of housing land in the
area) or whether it will be refused. If it is granted, there will be an
opportunity for the village to benefit from additional or subsidized facilities,
and councillors will be considering what these might be at a special meeting
on 8th November.
3. The Community Woodland at Netherclay will be opened on 9th November.
This has been a great asset to the village ad is well-used.
4. It looks as if the cobbled path at Netherclay may finally be renovated.
Discussions are under way with Somerset County Council and a site meeting
with councillors will be held soon. It is hoped, funding permitting, that
the work may be carried out over the winter.
5. There is still vegetation overgrowing paths and verges, particularly
down Shutewater Hill and in Mountway Road. Please cut back any overhanging
hedges on your property which may affect pedestrians or passing bikes/vehicles
before the weather gets wetter and they hang down even more.
6. The Village Events Group is holding a 'Sound of Music' night in the
parish church on 19th November, and festive songs around the village Christmas
Tree on 17th December - keep an eye out for further details!
7. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the
village noticeboards and the Website - do visit and have a look - www.bishopshull.org.uk
8. The next formal Council meeting is on Thursday 13th December, at 7.30
p.m. at the Frank Bond Centre.
