BISHOP'S HULL PARISH COUNCIL
www.bishopshull.org.uk

22nd MAY 2008

1. Mr Malcolm Summers was re-elected Chairman for the coming year. Mrs Suzanne Ravenhill was re-elected Vice Chairman.

2. Cobbles at Netherclay - no progress has yet been made due to technical difficulties with levels and drainage. The Council are still hoping that this restoration work can be done but are waiting advice from SCC.

3. Audit - the accounts have been signed off for the last financial year and the external audit will take place on 30th June. Meanwhile the accounts are open for public inspection -just contact the Clerk.

4. The housing development on the fields to the west of Bishop's Hull Road was discussed again. It was noted that a new application had been put on the Taunton Deane Website, which addresses the issues raised by the Environment Agency. A three page reply to the main traffic objections has also been put on the Website and SCC are not raising any objections on traffic grounds. It seems likely that this will now go to Planning Committee on 11th June.

5. Shopkeepers at the Post Office/shop and Butchers are experiencing problems with some people parking their cars 'long term' outside the shops, thus preventing shoppers from parking. Please have consideration for the shopkeepers and their customers and do not park there for more than 20 minutes.

6. Church Hall - it was noted that the current Church Hall (which is a temporary building) is likely to be demolished in 2017. that sounds a long way off, but plans will need to be considered before too long as to what is done with the site.

7. It has been reported that some people are dumping their domestic refuse in litter bins. They are not intended for that purpose, and it would be appreciated if people did not do this anti-social thing. Some car numbers have already been noted of persistent offenders.

8. It seems likely that BT will remove the public phone box in Northfields. The Council have pointed out that, apart from the Old Inn, that is the only phone box in the village now.

9. Information about all Parish Council meetings and members is on the village noticeboards and the Website - do visit and have a look - www.bishopshull.org.uk

10. The Annual Parish Meeting is on Thursday 10th July, 2008 at 7.30 p.m. at the Frank Bond Centre. All parishioners are cordially invited to attend.
